APRIL

APRIL 22  |  Peak Currently Being Discussed in Thousands of Tweets, Blogs, Articles, Podcasts, Etc.
Only a few weeks after its release, Peak is skyrocketing in multiple book rankings, being praised and recommended by experts in a wide variety of fields, and the lively topic of conversation in thousands of tweets, blogs, articles, podcasts, and more. Peak is being described as “a must read,” “a game changer,”  and “the best book you will read all year.” In his book review, Dave English -- an airline and A320 airbus pilot and author of The Inner Art of Airmanshp -- stresses how it was “[Ericsson's] research that Malcolm Gladwell used in his popular (and not quite right) ‘10,000 hour rule’ in the book Outliers” and that Ericsson “paired up with an experienced science author [Pool] to produce something much better than Gladwell: The distillation of a lifetime of fascinating research. It’s first person, first rate. Smooth clear English. Logically arranged, a complete whole with no odd dangling bits, and an effortless glide of a read.”

MARCH 23  |  Peak Authors Co-Author a Piece Published in the Times Educational Supplement
The two of us jointly published an original piece that appeared in the Times Educational Supplement. It is a response to an opinion piece by Carol Dweck, the best known proponent of the “growth mindset,” who had argued that many people, including teachers, pass along the message that it is possible to improve greatly in almost any area without discussing just what is necessary to make such improvement. We point out that the deliberate practice mindset offers precisely what Dweck is asking for—a recognition that tremendous improvement in performance is possible, combined with an understanding of what is required to make such improvement.
